LUKE MAGLI
Luke Magli will attend McPherson College in Kansas to redirect and pursue a degree in Automotive Restoration with a focus in business. Luke shared how his love of cars has grown from playing with Hot Wheels to learning how to work on cars,“ I’ ve been obsessed with cars my whole life, and I knew that that was something I wanted to continue with for my future and not just something I wanted to leave behind in my childhood.” McPherson College has an impressive Automotive Restoration program, unlike any in the nation, bridging the gap between contemporary technology and traditional craftsmanship. To apply to the highly competitive program, Luke had to submit a portfolio highlighting his car experience and artistic ability. In AP Art, Luke created a line of clothing using different textiles and design techniques that he used in his application.
From a young age, Luke had his sights set on the University of Tennessee for college. He credits the support from his teachers, friends, and family for his decision to redirect and pursue his passion. Reflecting on his time at CPA, Luke shared,“ I feel like every teacher here has impacted me. I would not trade my CPA experience for anything.” In his senior year, Luke joined the CPA Shotgun team and will join McPherson’ s team in the fall. We cannot wait to see where this journey takes him.
MACK SHERROD
Accepted into Georgetown University, Mack Sherrod plans on continuing his education with a major in finance through the McDonough School of Business. As Valedictorian, Mack is a dedicated student up for an academic challenge. When reflecting on his preparation for college, he shared the importance of his calculus classes,
“ My calculus classes have been important because math is just a big part of the financial world. But another is the work ethic that I had to develop in those classes, because math wasn’ t something I’ d really struggled with until I took calculus. It taught me how to study and how to truly learn in class.”
When it came time to decide about the future, Mack says the support of his parents and teachers, specifically Alyson Brady, helped him decide to take a risk and go somewhere he didn’ t know anyone. Georgetown’ s commitment to bettering the world stood out to Mack when touring colleges,“ They want to equip you to make a global impact on everything you do, and that was something that I really liked. It was unique and added more than just career-focus.
It’ s a more people-focused approach.”
TANNER SALINAS
Tanner Salinas was accepted into the London Academy of Music & Dramatic Art, one of the most elite acting schools in the world, to study professional acting. Throughout the fall semester, he traveled around the country for auditions and callbacks. At CPA, Tanner has been involved in theatre and Vision and is a graduate of the TICE Center for Production and Performance. Reflecting on his time in CPA Arts, Tanner said,“ The arts at CPA are truly unmatched. While I’ ve always had a love for acting, it’ s because of my experiences at
CPA that I am pursuing it as a career. The program has not only strengthened my skills- it has shaped my identity as an artist.”
As Salutatorian, Tanner is also a dedicated student committed to his academic and spiritual studies. At graduation, he was presented with the Distinguished Senior Award, voted on by faculty and classmates for his character and talent. Tanner will miss the community he has found at CPA, but is looking forward to the future,“ CPA has been a place where faith and creativity go hand in hand, and that’ s rare. I’ ve learned the importance of using the gifts the Lord has blessed me with, and I will continue to use those to glorify Him.”
