DEVELOPMENT
Dear CPA Community ,
As part of Unseen Stories : The Campaign for Christ Presbyterian Academy , CPA is excited to have construction underway on the new athletics and wellness facility adjacent to the Soli Deo Center on campus . While we may be experiencing a few temporary inconveniences during this project , we are overjoyed to begin this step towards a state-of-the-art facility for the entire community to enjoy !
Our new athletic and wellness facility is part of a broader strategic goal for our campus that began with the construction of the Upper School in 2011 and the opening of the Soli Deo Center in 2020 . These spaces allowed us to welcome more students and families to CPA and to strengthen an already strong fine arts program .
We have continued to grow ! The new athletic and wellness facility will enable us to meet the athletic and fitness needs of our more than 1,400 students . Our current gym in the middle school currently serves as our middle and upper school gym and was built in 1994 . The new space will include a stadium-style gym , spaces for fitness , strength training , physical therapy , and athletic administrative offices . It will also increase male and female locker room space . It will give the upper school a dedicated gym space and free up additional community space across campus .
New buildings are wonderful and beautiful spaces can help create an environment of excellence and teamwork . However , every building on CPA ’ s campus , older or newer , is primarily a facilitator of relationships . The goal of CPA athletics is to compete and win , but the purpose of the program is the discipleship of our young men and women towards the likeness of Christ ( 2 Cor . 3:18 ).
Our mission at CPA is to “ assist Christian families in helping students come to know God , evaluate all knowledge and all life by His truth , and live transformed by His truth for His glory .” We are excited to see the ways this new athletic and wellness facility will enable us to do that .
Some brief highlights of the new facility :
• New gym with 1,500 + capacity and 5 total courts on campus
• Equitable locker room & training spaces for female and male athletes
• 5,500 sq . ft . weight room
• 1,200 sq . ft . cardio deck
• 1,600 sq . ft . injury prevention and physical therapy space
“ We want to use every opportunity we have to teach boys and girls about Jesus . We ’ ve seen so much transformation in lives through the years because of our coaches ’ and instructors ’ commitment to the mission and to building character . Additional facilities will create more opportunities for more students and help them understand the importance of lifelong health and wellness .” — Ingle Martin , Athletic Director , Head Varsity Football Coach
