COWES PORT HANDBOOK 2014 - 2015 The harbour entrance can become very congested at peak times and great caution is to be taken when entering or leaving the harbour. Vessels must adhere to the speed limits, 4 knots maximum within the inner harbour and 6 knots maximum from the breakwater to a line between the pier head and Black Rock buoy. The Yarmouth Pier is a Grade II listed structure, reputedly the longest wooden pier in the UK, and a great place to take in views of the Solent.
