Team LISA – ORANGE – Dubai Inaugural International COW event :
I have always loved CHOC and The Cows for what they do as a charity and for what they represent as a group of likeminded people . I have been fortunate enough while living in South Africa , to join them during some of their crazy but brilliant fund-raising adventures .
When I moved to Dubai , the FOMO of not being able to join the crazy double lapper ACs was rather depressing . Unfortunately , covid resulted in the large cycling races being cancelled in South Africa , including the 947 cycle challenge . That did not stop the amazing people of The Cows who proceeded to create their own , new and equally brilliant event – The Cow & Belle race .
Each team would ride 180 kms in memory of a friend we have lost to cancer .
During my time in Dubai , I found an amazing group of cyclists
to ride with , many of them being from South Africa . So , the Cow & Belle ride gave me a perfect opportunity to share what I love about The Cows with my Dubai cycling buddies .
I signed up a team and we would ride in memory of our very special Lisa Mulley ( Team Orange ). I was hoping to have two or three other riders join me for this event . Hahaha we ended up with 22 riders join on the day to complete the full 180 kms in the desert of Dubai – the 1st ever CHOC / The Cows event in Dubai .
What an incredible experience we shared on the day . The messages and videos of support which we received from our friends in South Africa were just amazing .
