While we used to look for history that includes travel or known COVID-19 exposures with community spread occurring we must consider COVID-19 in ALL Patients who present to the emergency department.
Chief complaints of Shortness of breath, cough, and/or fever are not all inclusive. Patients can be afebrile.
Chief complaints seen with COVID-19 confirmed positive patients:
• Cough
• Shortness of Breath
• Fever
• Weakness
• Diarrhea
• Ataxia
• Syncope
• Flank Pain
• Altered Mental Status

Take Away Points:
• Consider COVID-19 in every patient
• Ensure you are using appropriate PPE
• Do not depend on the chief complaint or history to rule out the possibility
of COVID-19 infection
• Interestingly, all patients had an elevated CRP
