GIVING UP YOUR ISHMAEL
Perhaps now we can truly feel the need of the simplicity of process to maintain a level of spirituality, cut down on iftaar
feasts as we are limited to the mere essentials, cut down on being out and about, cut down the business surrounding iftaar
time and go back to individual relationship that Ramadhan hopes to bring about between the single man and His Creator.
It is easy to feel a sense of strength when we practice as a whole, yet find ourselves in the condition we were before
once the sense of community disperses after Eid. Now is the time to go within and build ourselves for a more permanent
outcome and continue after Ramadhan having gained the individual strength for our own incline.
We find that in solitude, men amongst the people became prophets, and in that is a lesson of where Allah wants us when
we are to be closest to him. Giving up the things most beloved to us as Abraham was willing to sacrifice his most beloved
son, Ishmael. In that is a lesson of an immense reward after the willingness to sacrifice even the most beloved of gifts to us.
May the Almighty make it easy for all families during this Ramadhan and May we remain in positive spirits despite the
varied difficulties each individual or family cluster may go through! May we practice Ramadhan the way it has always
intended to be practiced, and may we experience our exterior world with a cleansed set of eyes when we will eventually,
In Shaa Allah, be allowed out.
The Covered Magazine team wishes all family a blessed and safe Ramadhan.
