__________________________________________________________________________________ . 2019 saw the year that I got divorced after an 11 year marriage. Going through that was one of the most difficult experiences I have ever had to endure. Iddah is bearing. Sometimes I felt as if my broken heart will kill me in my sleep and I felt like I was never going to be OK again. The world had turned its back on me. I reached such low moments in my life that I didn't wish to live any longer. Until I gave up seeking solace in people or this world. I turned to Allah. Entirely leaving my affairs in His hands and slowly things started to change. My heart began to feel the comfort it so badly needed. The anxiety of the future no longer crippled my mind and body. If anything helped me through this insanely difficult time it was my spirituality and the relationship I had to rebuild with my Allah. And of course, surrounding myself with the correct people and getting myself involved in activities that contributed to the well being of my physical and mental self... This is where the soccer came in. This started off as something to let off steam and keep fit but soon it became my coping mechanism to the depression I was experiencing. It helped, being around other women, talking, laughing and being in a "team" gave me a sense of belonging. Many of us tend to neglect our health and bodies when we go through trauma. We forget that our bodies are an amaanah and we need to take care of that as much as our spiritual and psychological needs requires us to. INSHA Allah I am hoping this will give me a platform to reach out to more women regarding the painful aspects of divorce, meeting them and hopefully helping them through that with my own experience. I'm also hoping my appearance will inspire others to start covering up and being proud to step out in a manner that represents the religion they follow insha Allah. Adopting modesty not only in appearance but in action, words and perception. My message to women out there.. Understand who you are Believe in yourself. Love yourself you can achieve anything if you set your mind to it. Keep strong Keep inspiring and helping other women Always be a work in progress to be the best version of yourself. I am looking forward to all the love and support in building a tribe of women who will stand behind the magazine and its initiatives. INSHA Allah. 19
