MODEST FASHION
THE NEW POWER DRESSING
how modesty has become a mainstream in western countries
Manuela Pirola, Milan Italy
“The Modest Fashion” market has been increasingly
growing in importance in Italy and in the Western
Countries in general. Four years ago, “Modanisa” (the
renowned Turkish platform entirely dedicated to modest
garments and accesories, editor’s note) launched what
would become an endless series of Modest Fashion
events all around the world, attended by thousands of
professionals.
And while we are waiting for the next appointment with
IMFW 2020 in Istanbul (3-4 April), designers, brands,
influencers and consumers converge to see Modesty as
one of the most dynamic and growing sectors within the
Fashion Industry.
Due to the massive presence of Muslims in the area, Italy
(especially Milan, base of the Islamic Fashion & Design
Council since 2015) has now become a focal point in the
global Modest Fashion market, whose presence is only set
to rise (by the end of 2020, the State of the Global Islamic
Economy predicts that the market could be worth more
than £226 bn).
