Is there something that motivates and or inspires you to workout, diet, and compete in fitness that non-competitors might connect with? Which part do you have the most difficulty with?

My children motivate me on a daily basis! I love to be active and eat healthy, and hope to lead my children down the same path. Our children are a reflection of the way we raise them, and I want them to understand the importance of taking care of their health.

Being a military spouse with young children can be difficult at times, and finding balance between work, family, and my passion for fitness has inspired me to find creative ways to include my family in workouts! It ís a win-win! We enjoy being active, and get to spend quality family time together!

How do your goals on stage connect with your non-athletic activities?

Outside of contest prep and family life, I’m also Co-Owner of Buff Bites-A Fit Bakery.

My business partner and I wanted to create a way to enjoy sweet treats while staying on track with our fitness goals, so through this, Buff Bites was born.

Being in the kitchen and getting creative with recipes is something I’ve always enjoyed, and I feel I’ve found my perfect niche!

What do you think is the most misunderstood aspect of your lifestyle?

Competition diets are very misunderstood! People are under the impression that I don’t eat, when in fact it’s quite the opposite! People often say they would get bored with a diet like mine. Healthy diets and competition diets alike do not have to be bland or boring! Get creative with your food!

What’s the most comical or unusual comment someone has made to you? How did you deal with it?

A member of my gym once told me I needed to go to the dessert bar. I didn’t entertain the comment, because he doesn’t understand my lifestyle. In general, I maintain leanness year round, and I have often been described as skinny throughout most of my life. For me the word skinny is somewhat offensive. I often want to correct others and inform them, I’m not skinny. I am fit! (cont. pg 32).
