Amy Lynn Lindsey More Than A Social Butterfly

Please share something of your background and how It relates to your current interest in fitness and modeling.

I grew up in a small town in Linden, AL. I played softball in high school and always enjoyed being active. I initially became interested in weightlifting when I worked at a gym in Destrehan, LA while working towards my Master’s in Social Work. Being in the gym atmosphere opened my eyes to the benefits of training and peaked my interest in getting in shape. Once I graduated and moved to Pensacola, FL I joined a running group and for a while ran in local races and a few half marathons as well. My love for weightlifting returned when I moved to St. Petersburg, FL and joined a local gym and met a few local competitors. That is when I decided I wanted to take fitness to the next level and compete.

Share with us a bit about your contest history and most memorable show experience.

I have competed in five shows in the NPC within the last year.

My first show was Tim Gardner’s Hurricane Bay in 2012. I didn’t place at this show, but I made a lot of friends and it definitely solidified my love for the sport, and is my most memorable show experience because of the lifelong friends that I met at this show and the ones that supported me through this prep. A month after this show I competed at the NPC All South 2012 and placed fifth which qualified me for National Level Shows. In 2013 I knew I really had to take my training to the next level to get ready for a National Level show. I competed at the Central Florida District Championships 2013 and took home first in my class and the overall. A few weeks later I hit the stage at Jr Nationals and although I didn’t break the top five like I had hoped I placed 7th and got my feet wet at my first National Level Show. After Jr Nationals I decided to compete in one more National Level show for 2013 and chose North Americans. During 2014 I competed at the NPC Steve Stone New York Metropolitan, NPC Pittsburgh Championships, and Jr Nationals in Chicago. Coming into Florida States I continued to persevere and it paid off with a first place in Masters, Open Bikini B, and my first overall at a National Qualifier (cont pg. 10)!
