HOLE 11 Existing Par 3 153m Proposed Par 3 153m EXISTING HOLE DESCRIPTION The 11th hole plays back to the north, with the billabong on the right side being the defining feature. A billabong also occurs to the left but is short of the green and less visible. That said it still plays a significant role in snaring a shorter hit ball. The tee complex is narrow and is close to the boundary fence. It is bordered at the left by a path and at the right by screening vegetation. The green is long and slightly angled, narrow in the front and broadening out at the rear. A single bunker guards the right front of the green and lies between the green at the right side billabong. The contouring along the left side of the hole is quite abrupt and fussy, making golfer access to and from the green somewhat awkward and restricted. An attractive but somewhat awkward hole that can be improved further. STRENGTHS + Attractive short hole with a fine green setting between billabongs. + Good mature trees. WEAKNESSES + + + + Narrow tee setting. Billabong banks are turfed and could be more naturalized with tussocks. Left side shaping with hollows and mounds is quite fussy making access to and from the green awkward. Stray balls from the 10th may impact golfers on this tee. O PPO RTU N ITI E S & R E C O M M E N DATI O N S + + + + + Raise tee by approximately 400mm to improve view of approach to green and in particular the left side billabong feature. Reshape approach, left side surrounds and egress to twelve tees. Form broad ridge to hide view from tee of 12th tee pathway. Extend first part of right side billabong to broaden view of water in front of bunker. Further naturalise banks of billabong with occasional planting of sedge and native grasses. Remodel existing bunker. Reduce extent of right side and introduce new second bunker to highlight and guard rear portion of green. Maintain overland flow path through green site as required. + Remove 3 No. small trees and bushes behind green to open up view to 12th fairway beyond. + Naturalise carry between tee and start of fairway with occasional planting of native tussocks. TH R EATS + Stray balls from the 10th may impact golfers on this tee. PAG E 3 9 11
