HOLE 09
Existing Par 3 112m
Proposed Par 3 112m
EXISTING HOLE DESCRIPTION
The front nine finishes with a short par 3 hole back towards the clubhouse. The tees are set on the edge of the escarpment that
drops back down to the 8th green, and the hole plays slightly uphill to the green. The landscaping around the tee appears to be
somewhat inconsistent in its plant palette and the silver-green bushes at the left beyond the tee appear out of place, while a densely
planted garden bed is located at the right side opposite the end of the path from the tee. The green is guarded by two bunkers,
the first is a rather symmetrical looking front bunker with another bunker at the left rear that is set into the slope leading up to the
clubhouse. This rear bunker has a quite different appearance to the front one. The green is quite undulating and tricky for putting.
STRENGTHS
+ Attractive green setting in front of the clubhouse.
WEAKNESSES
+
+
+
+
Landscaping around tee lacks coherence.
Miss-match of bunker character.
Green undulations possibly too great for the size of green – the putting surface could be extended out at front left.
Green complex lack appropriate scale commensurate with Clubhouse setting i.e. not enough breadth and scale.

Undertake supplementary planting around tee.
Naturalise carry between tee and start of fairway with occasional planting of native tussocks.
Replace perspex covers to flood lights to significant trees.
Remove bushes in garden bed short right of green to open up views to the 1st hole. Replace removed bushes with low native
grasses and ground covers planting.
+ Construct new enlarged and visually more stimulating green complex. Maintain suitable egress to right side of green.
+ Plant occasional tussocks beyond rear bunkers to transition to garden bed planting at rear. Plant tussocks in rear garden bed to
provide more variety and link to new planting in turf.
TH R EATS
+ No apparent threats
