HOLE 06
Existing Par 4 420m
Proposed Par 4 420m
EXISTING HOLE DESCRIPTION
The 6th is the longest par four at Green Acres and is rated the most difficult hole on the course. It plays from well elevated tees
back to the north, with the billabong that runs along the right of the 4th and 5th holes being on the right of this hole. The tees are
curved in form and quite different to other tees on the course, but appear well suited to this location, with the tee shot appearing
relatively narrow due to the tighter vegetated hole corridor. The fairway necks in to its narrowest around 260m out from the rear tee,
and there are no fairway bunkers. The hole then doglegs to the right, with a simple green that runs out from fairway level, with one
bunker short left of the green and another at middle left. These bunkers are not visually imposing and only serve to catch shots that
are directed too far left. To the right of the green lies a timber retaining wall and a wooded slope down to the billabong edge. Whilst
being a difficult hole it is one that we believe can be improved upon.
STRENGTHS
+ Well vegetated hole corridor.
+ Attractive green site.
WEAKNESSES
+
+
+
+
Narrow hole corridor contributes to hole difficulty
Billabong banks are turfed and could be naturalized with tussocks.
Bunker short left of green does not impact on line of play.
Bland green.
O PPO RTU N ITI E S & R E C O M M E N DATI O N S
+ Remodel fairway bunker short left of green. Cut bunker across line of play by 5-7 metres to provide greater visual deception of
distance to the green.
+ Along right side of approach to green prune branches and or limbs encroaching into hole corridor.
+ Remodel green contours to provide more putting interest. Green to extend to rear as well as to the right – close to the path. A
new path is to be constructed along with a new retaining wall to the trees on the right.
+ Naturalise carry between tee and start of fairway with occasional planting of native tussocks.
TH R EATS
+ No apparent threats
