GREENS
There is little doubt that the greens are the heart and soul of any golf course and if the greens are in poor condition and do
not provide much in the way of golfer interest, then the overall appeal of the course will suffer. Secondary to this, however of
significant importance, is the strategic and aesthetic value the course bunkering plays in the enjoyment and interest of the course.
Whilst the condition of the putting surface is not in question at Green Acres there are however several greens which in our opinion
are quite bland, lacking in putting interest and would benefit from a redesign. This in turn would also bring them into line with the
more interesting putting surfaces such as the 1st, 8th and 9th greens as well as the 12th green built in more recent times. It is also
worth noting that restraint is in order to avoid too steep slopes which may minimise pin placements and general playability such as
the recently constructed 7th green. Refer Table 1 below for list of greens to be redesigned.
+ In addition the greens are a well balanced mix of green shape (plan view) and orientation. Refer Table 3 below. In addition to
this break down it is also interesting to note that there is an almost 50/50 balance of green shape that favors either a left to right
approach or and right to left approach. Those hole numbers shown with an asterisks are those which generally favour a left to
right approach or a faded approach for a right handed golfer.

Some comments on the greens at Green Acres:
+ Generally the greens at Green Acres are of a good size when compared to the length of hole / approach. Of note is the 12th
hole at 332metres in length which has the smallest green size on the course at approximately 405m2 - which is well suited
to the shortish nature of the hole. As such for the greens proposed to be redesigned we will review their current size versus the
length of hole, topography and presence or otherwise of hazards. The goal will be best size the green to bring about a strategic
improvement of each hole.
+ The average green size is approximately 500m2 with the smallest greens being on the 5th, 9th and 12th holes at 410m2,
460m2 and 405m2 respectively. The largest green is the 3rd measuring app
