C. Electives In grades 9 through 12, students shall also earn 12 additional credits (beginning with the class of 2017—11 elective credits) in courses elected to suit individual needs, interests, and capabilities and to develop job entry or post-secondary skills. Course selections shall be approved by parent(s)/guardian(s) and Counselor. Middle School students who are able to take high school course work will earn high school credit. D. Registration Changes and Drops Course changes after the regular registration process should be kept to a minimum. In those rare cases where students require a change of registration that change should occur within the first three days of a new term. Course drops made after the third day of the new term may result in an “F” for that course. The principal must approve all drops. E. Grade Point Average (GPA) GPA shall be computed using the combined grades and credit equivalent from Johnson Creek High School and the postsecondary school.When computing Grade Point Average (GPA), a grade of A+/A = 4 pts., A- = 3.67 pts.,B+ = 3.3 pts., B = 3 pts., B- = 2.67 pts., C+ = 2.3 pts., C = 2.0 pts., C- = 1.67 pts., D+ = 1.3 pts., D = 1.0 pts., D- = 0.67 pts., F = 0 pts. Note: The uses of pluses and minuses will be computed into the GPA. F. Honor Roll Honor roll is 3.0 – 3.49 and high honor roll is 3.50 – 4.0. To be eligible for High Honor Roll/Honor Roll a student must be enrolled for a minimum of two credits at Johnson Creek High School per semester. These credits can be a combination of classes from Johnson Creek High School and other approved post secondary schools. Exceptions must be approved by the high school principal and district administrator, notification must occur prior to the end of each grading period. G. Athletic Eligibility - Academic Requirements 1) A student must maintain passing grades in all classes. Fourth quarter grades are carried over to the next school year. a) Students who attend summer school to remediate a failing grade must have prior approval from the high school principal. Courses may be remediated for athletic eligibility purposes and must be in certified and approved educational programs. 2) Eligibility shall be based upon all subjects for which credit is given. Incomplete grades are recorded as F’s if not completed within two (2) weeks unless serious personal problems prevail.
