MATHAN Math Analysis & Statistics ½ credit Elective To help students prepare for college math and brush up on skills learned in Integrated Math 3. The course will prepare students to understand and apply mathematics in a variety of contexts, including other curriculum subjects, and the workplace. It will help students develop logical, creative thinking skills and become more confident in their math ability. The course is designed for the student who does not plan to focus on math, engineering or science after high school, and is an alternative to PreCalculus. Skills: To develop mathematical problem solving and reasoning skills with a particular emphasis on data analysis and statistics. A major focus will be collection, analysis and drawing conclusions from real life data, and using mathematical modeling. Prerequisite: Mathematics III and Data Percentiles PRECAL Pre Calculus 1/2 credit Elective To provide the necessary background for further studies in mathematics and other fields dependent on mathematics. Skills include: To increase student's knowledge of advanced algebra, functions, transformations, analytic geometry, exponents, logarithms, and trigonometry. The course will provide insights into the methods of thinking in advanced mathematics. Pre-Calculus course covers the study of Elementary Functions, Analytic Geometry, and Math Analysis as preparation for Calculus. Topics include the study of complex numbers, polynomial, logarithmic, exponential, rational, and circular functions and their relations, inverses and graphs, conic sections, Boolean algebra, and symbolic logic, mathematical induction, matrix algebra, sequences and series, and limits and continuity. Prerequisite: Mathematics III and Data Percentiles. TRIG Trigonometry 1/2 credit Elective Trigonometry course prepares students for eventual work in calculus and includes the following topics: trigonometric and circular functions; their inverses and graphs, relations among the parts of a triangle, trigonometric identities and equations, solutions of a right and oblique triangles, and complex numbers. Prerequisite: Mathematics III and Data Percentiles MODAPP Mathematical Models with Applications 1 credit year long Elective In this course, student use algebraic, graphical, and geometric reasoning to recognize patterns and structure, to model information, and to solve problems from various disciplines.
