Youth Apprenticeship Automotive: 1/2 credit per 180 hours of work experience junior/senior Level 1 and Level 2: Prerequisite: Junior or senior, identified automotive career major. If the student is serious about a career in the automotive industry then this youth apprenticeship is for him/her. The program involves being enrolled in the Jefferson County AYES Automotive Technology Course. This is a course that is offered at Jefferson High School one night a week. An application is required for this program, which is obtained from the high school counselor. To be admitted to this course and this program, an interview will be required. If successful in the program, the student will be given the option of being enrolled in Youth Apprenticeship. This program is either for juniors or seniors. For the level two senior year, the student will be given the option to enroll in the Madison College night automotive program. The program involves 450 hours of paid work experience for a Level 1 program and 900 hours of paid work experience for a Level 2 program with a mentor/trainer. Youth Apprenticeship Manufacturing: 1/2 credit per 180 hours of work experience senior Level 1:1/2 credit per Manufacturing Youth Apprenticeship Level 1, Junior or Senior. If the student is serious about a career in the manufacturing industry then this youth apprenticeship is for them. The program involves the student being enrolled in a minimum of any two of the following: Metal Processing, Wood Processing, Manufacturing Technology, Advanced Metal Fabrication, Advanced Woods Processing, and/or Manufacturing Systems for a level 1 Youth Apprenticeship. The program involves 450 hours of paid work experience over the year with a mentor/trainer. Level 2: 1/2 credit per Manufacturing Youth Apprenticeship Level 2, Senior. Students will need to have completed the competencies of the Level 1 Youth Apprenticeship. They will then move into an individualized program for manufacturing and continue to take courses specified above in their career pathway. 57 Table of Contents
