Graduation Requirements
To be eligible for a high school diploma, a student will have earned a minimum of twenty-seven
credits. A credit shall be earned for successful completion of a course. Credit for courses
meeting more or less frequently or for other equivalent learning experiences shall be granted by
the school district in proportion to the instructional time or requirements involved.
College bound students must earn a minimum of seventeen units from the following subject
areas: English, Math, Science, Social Studies, and Foreign Language. Check with the
Counselor to be certain you are meeting the entrance requirements of the college you choose.
A diploma shall be awarded upon the recommendation of the high school principal and approval
by the Board of Education after certification that the student has completed successfully a
course of study designated to meet the student's educational needs and capabilities.
A. Total Credits
A total of 27 required and elective credits must be earned in grades 9 through 12. Class of
2014-2016: 15 required and 12 elective credits, beginning with the class of 2017: 16 required
and 11 elective credits. Course length = Credit: semester course = .5 credit, year course = 1
credit.
