Design Technologies I Students will be exposed to basic design principles in the Fashion and Interior Design arenas. Student learning will be personalized in Fashion Technology or Interior Design based upon the interest of each student. Design Technologies II (New Course) The student will choose the avenue of learning, you will select your focus either fashion or interior design. You will expand your skills applying principles and elements of design as it relates to the focus you choose. You will study trends in fashion or interior design, as well as learn how to work with clients as it relates to either career pathway. Each avenue will provide you with opportunities to develop skills through the use of individual or team projects. Examples may be, put not limited to: Fashion Design-develop a line of clothing including design basics, fabric choice, labeling and pricing. Interior design- design interiors to meet the living space of clients, then present information with the use of a foam board presentation. Eating For Life Students learn about nutrients, metabolism, calories, meal plans and other nutritional basics. Students will learn how to plan and prepare their favorite foods and be health conscience at the same time. Are you an athlete? We will explore foods that will improve your performance. We will also explore making healthy choices while eating out by taking a field trip to a local restaurant. Foods I Learn the skills of planning, preparing and serving appetizing and nutritious foods in a safe and sanitary environment. In this hands-on class you will have a chance to practice a variety of techniques using common tools in the kitchen, with approximately one “labs” per week. All specific food groups will be studied, and a complete holiday-type meal will be prepared. You will also try your hand at quantity food preparation working in the “Lunches To Go” lab. Independent Living You will soon be out on your own. Are you prepared to make decisions for yourself, balance going to school or working in a career and running a household? This course is designed to give you the skills necessary for a “healthy” life. We will cover topics that will get you ready to look for your first apartment, prepare nutritious and delicious meals, use a budget, keep you and your living space “looking good”. Many other “life skills” will be covered during this hands-on class. 35 Table of Contents
