LANGUAGES
COURSE: English Introductory Statement
In S3 English, learners continue to develop skills both in the analytical study of texts and literacy. The course promotes the acquisition of skills not only designed to support further study but also equip learners for later life.
Aims & Objectives We aim to cover all relevant CFE Experiences and Outcomes at levels 3 / 4. There is a growing level of pupil input, choice and engagement throughout S3 ensuring each pupil gains the experiences most relevant to them.
Pupils will work to across Experiences and Outcomes in the following categories:
� Enjoyment and choice, � Tools � Finding and using information � Creating texts.
Course Content The course combines a number of activities and projects to develop the following:
Communicate, collaborate and build relationships Reflect on and explain literacy and thinking skills, using feedback to help improve and sensitively provide useful feedback for others Engage with and create a wide range of texts in different media, taking advantage of the opportunities offered by ICT Develop an understanding of what is special, vibrant and valuable about their own and other cultures and their languages Explore the richness and diversity of language, how it can affect individuals, and the wide range of ways in which they can be creative Extend and enrich vocabulary through listening, talking, watching and reading. Engage with a wide range of texts and develop an appreciation of the richness and breadth of Scotland’ s literary and linguistic heritage Explore and discuss word patterns and text structures.
