THE CURRICULUM
In the Broad General Education phase, all S3 pupils will continue to study English and Maths and a Modern Language at an appropriate level. In addition to these subjects all pupils have a“ core curriculum” which includes Social Education, Religious & Moral Education, Physical Education, Tutor Group and a Wider Achievement opportunity. During S3, pupils will also experience interdisciplinary learning opportunities where they have the opportunity to not only develop new skills but also use their existing skills in new ways. All pupils in the Broad General Education phase are recommended to experience learning across as broad a curriculum as possible, encompassing languages, mathematics, sciences, social studies, expressive arts, health & wellbeing and technologies.

An outline of course content, aims, objectives and levels of study are contained in this booklet. Internal school assessment will continue and, as in S1 and S2, you will receive individual subject and tracking reports on your son / daughter’ s progress throughout the year.
During S3, the majority of pupils will be working on Third / Fourth Level Outcomes in their chosen subjects and preparing for entry into their Senior Phase of S4 where they will embark upon their first set of National Qualifications.
During S3 and S4 decisions will be made, based on attainment levels, progress and school tracking data, as to which level pupils will be presented for their qualifications at the end of S4. The levels of presentation are as follows:
