THE CURRICULUM
In the Broad General Education phase , all S3 pupils will continue to study English and Maths and a Modern Language at an appropriate level . In addition to these subjects all pupils have a “ core curriculum ” which includes Social Education , Religious & Moral Education , Physical Education , Tutor Group and a Wider Achievement opportunity . During S3 , pupils will also experience interdisciplinary learning opportunities where they have the opportunity to not only develop new skills but also use their existing skills in new ways . All pupils in the Broad General Education phase are recommended to experience learning across as broad a curriculum as possible , encompassing languages , mathematics , sciences , social studies , expressive arts , health & wellbeing and technologies .

An outline of course content , aims , objectives and levels of study are contained in this booklet . Internal school assessment will continue and , as in S1 and S2 , you will receive individual subject and tracking reports on your son / daughter ’ s progress throughout the year .
During S3 , the majority of pupils will be working on Third / Fourth Level Outcomes in their chosen subjects and preparing for entry into their Senior Phase of S4 where they will embark upon their first set of National Qualifications .
During S3 and S4 decisions will be made , based on attainment levels , progress and school tracking data , as to which level pupils will be presented for their qualifications at the end of S4 . The levels of presentation are as follows :
