The question went to
voters in a county-wide
referendum, and they
supported it in 19 of 20
precincts.
The fee is expected
to generate $280,000
a year. Blankenship
said developing the
distribution formula was
the project’s most difficult
phase. That formula was
critical for community
support, and the end
result is able to support a
range of EMS providers,
from a full-fledged
ambulance service to the
smallest volunteer fire
department. n
