NASHVILLE SONGWRITERS HALL OF FAME
TO INDUCT LARRY GATLIN, DWIGHT YOAKAM,
MARCUS HUMMON, KOSTAS, RIVERS
RUTHERFORD AND SHARON VAUGHN
Larry Gatlin, Dwight Yoakam, Marcus
Hummon, Kostas, Rivers Rutherford and
Sharon Vaughn will be inducted into the Nashville
Songwriters Hall of Fame in October.
The six new inductees will join the 213 existing
members of the elite organisation when they are
officially inducted during the 49th Anniversary
Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame Gala on
Oct 14, at Nashville’s Music City Center.
Marcus Hummon’s songwriter credits include
Cowboy Take Me Away (The Dixie Chicks),
Born To Fly (Sara Evans) and Bless The
Broken Road (Rascal Flatts). Kostas is
known for heaps of 90s hits including
Timber, I’m Falling In Love (Patty Loveless), Blame It On Your Heart (Patty Loveless) and
Ain’t That Lonely Yet (Dwight Yoakam). Rivers Rutherford’s hits include Real Good Man
(Tim McGraw), When I Get Where I’m Going (Brad Paisley w/ Dolly Parton) and Ain’t
Nothing ’Bout You (Brooks & Dunn).
Sharon Vaughn inducted in the veteran songwriter category. She wrote of My
Heroes Have Always Been Cowboys (Willie Nelson), Y’all Come Back Saloon
(The Oak Ridge Boys) and Lonely Too Long (Patty Loveless).
Dwight Yoakam goes in the songwriter/artist category. He had hits with many
of his own compositions, including Guitars, Cadillacs, Fast As You and You’re
The One. Larry Gatlin, meanwhile, is inducted as veteran songwriter/artist. He
recorded many of his self-penned hits with his brothers, Steve and Rudy (The
Gatlin Brothers), including All The Gold In California, Statues Without Hearts
and Broken Lady.

Florida Georgia Line’s Tyler Hubbard and Brian
Kelley have launched their own new record label,
Round Here Records. The first signee to the new
label is former Mercury artist Canaan Smith.

The friendship between country queens Patsy Cline and Loretta
Lynn is the subject of an upcoming titled ‘Patsy & Loretta’ that is
coming to the Lifetime TV channel this October in the US.
Featuring Megan Hilty as Cline and Broadway star Jessie Mueller
in the role of Loretta, the biopic is promised to be both heartwarming
and heartbreaking. Kyle Schmid plays Charlie Dick, Patsy’s husband,
while Joe Tippett is Loretta’s husband Oliver “Doolittle” Lynn.
Daughters of the two stars, Loretta’s daughter, Patsy Lynn Russell,
company and is supporting them on tour this year.

producers on the film and if you can’t wait, a trailer can be seen online.
Loretta Lynn shared the trailer for the film on Facebook saying, “I
sure loved Patsy. It broke my heart when we lost her. We always had
lots of fun together.”
A date for a UK broadcast is still unknown but we’d suggest keeping
an eye on those satellite schedules. Spoiler alert: Patsy Cline died in a
plane crash in 1963. aged 30.
