W hen the nominations for this year ’ s

58th CMA Awards were announced it wasn ’ t the news that newcomer and traditionalist Zach Top received a nod that grabbed the headlines ( although it should have been ), nor was it that the all-conquering Morgan Wallen led the way with seven nominations that included his chart-topping Post Malone collaboration on I Had Some Help . The main story on which media outlets seemed to focus was that Beyoncé had been snubbed , despite the success of her Cowboy Carter album and her single Texas Hold ‘ Em which was among the most-added songs in the country market when it first debuted .
Ultimately , it appears that it is the ferocity ( and size ) of Beyoncé ’ s fan base that is most upset , alongside grievances that the former Destiny ’ s Child singer became the first Black woman to hit Number One on the Hot Country Songs chart with Texas Hold ‘ Em .
Once the initial hype surrounding the “ Beyoncé goes country ” thing had settled , and sensible people ( and especially those with any knowledge of what constitutes an actual country record ) began to share views that maybe Cowboy Carter wasn ’ t so much of a country record in the first place , and that it takes more than the mere mention of a horse , a hat , or a dirt road to constitute a country song , Queen Bey ’ s album seems to have drifted off the radar with the main beneficiary of it appearing to be the guest on two Cowboy Carter tracks , Shaboozey , whose single A Bar Song ( Tipsy ) is a multi-week Hot Country chart-topper which earns his first CMA nominations , for Best New Artist and Single of the Year . Recently telling E ! News “ It ’ s definitely unfortunate . I mean , if that ’ s something she was looking to receive and that ’ s something that she worked for , it really sucks .” He went on to say that Beyoncé “ changed my life , and changed the lives of other artists as well .”
Dolly later shared in an interview with Variety that , “ I guess probably , the country music field , they probably thought , ‘ Well , we can ’ t really leave out some of the ones who spend their whole life doing that ,” when asked about the alleged shut-out .
But ultimately it is Morgan Wallen ’ s year ,
