A vintage Hank Williams poster
for the show he never gave has become the world ’ s most valuable music concert poster , after selling for $ 150,000 . The poster has long been described as a ‘ holy grail ’ in the world of collectable concert posters . Sold by Heritage Auction Galleries out of Dallas , TX on Saturday , May 1st , with just three copies known to exist with two of those in elite collections and never appeared at auction . It is also in better shape than the others and has changed hands numerous times since being discovered in a Canton barn decades ago . The poster promoted a pair of Williams ’ performances at the Canton Memorial Auditorium in Ohio on January 1 , 1953 that the country legend was travelling to when he died from heart failure in the back of the powder blue Cadillac in which he was being driven . The shows went ahead with Hawkshaw Hawkins and Hank ’ s Drifting Cowboys performing his music as a tribute .
