GRAMMY FOR TAMMY
T he first Lady Of Country Music ,
Tammy Wynette , will posthumously be honoured with a Recording Academy Lifetime Achievement Award during the private non-televised Special Merit Awards which forms part of GRAMMY week 2024 .
Best known for her signature song Stand By Your Man , Wynette , born Virginia Wynette Pugh , died in 1998 at the age of 55 .
Gladys Knight and ( also posthumously ) Donna Summer are also among those set be recognised as “ performers who , during their lifetimes , have made creative contributions of outstanding artistic significance to the field of recording ” at the event on Feb 3 , the day prior to the main televised event .
The Grammy ’ s first lifetime achievement award was presented to Bing Crosby in 1963 .
