TANYA TUCKER FINALLY WINS A GRAMMY
t’s taken more than 40 years but finally Tanya Tucker has a Grammy.
Not only that, she has two. First nominated in 1973 with her breakout
smash Delta Dawn, the 61-year-old country legend won Best
Country Album for her Brandi Carlile/Shooter Jennings-produced While
I’m Livin’ and Best Country Song for Bring My Flowers Now.
A performance of Bring My Flowers Now accompanied only by
Carlile on piano was a highlight of The 62nd Annual Grammy Awards
held Jan 26 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
Accepting her award for Best Country Song the former wild-child
said, “After almost 50 years in this business, after many dreams, it’s
still unbelievable to me that I’d still have a few firsts left. After 14 trips,
14 nominations, this is the first win.”
“At 61 years old, it’s a woman in country music leading the way,”
said Carlile.
Shooter Jennings joined Carlile and Tucker on stage to accept the
award for Best Country Album.
Willie Nelson picked up the Best Country Solo Performance for Ride
Me Back Home, the title track of his latest album, while Dan+Shay won
Best Country duo/Group Performance for Speechless.
