56th ANNUAL CMA AWARDS
C hris Stapleton has a habit of stealing
the show when it comes to CMA
Awards time , and at this year ’ s 56th Annual CMA Awards , it was his performance with Patty Loveless of the Darrell Scott-penned You ’ ll Never Leave Harlan Alive that had everybody talking . Loveless included it on her Mountain Soul album in 2001 , but the song , about the struggle of coal miners , with its stripped-back Dobro and fiddle laden bluegrass feel resonated with both those in attendance and TV viewers . Stapleton himself was up for Song of the Year ,
Single of the Year , and Male Vocalist , and walked away with the Male Vocalist honour for the sixth time , making him the fifth most-awarded artist in CMA Awards history .
The Luke Bryan and ( NFL legend ) Peyton Manning-hosted show opened with a tribute to the late Loretta Lynn by Carrie Underwood , Reba McEntire and Miranda Lambert . Luke Combs , Morgan Wallen , Miranda Lambert , Carrie Underwood , Luke Bryan , Cole Swindell , Cody Johnson , and Carly Pearce were among the artists performing on the
