It is a strange feeling writing the introduction
for this edition on a sunny August day and
realising that we are rapidly approaching the
last quarter of 2017.
Our customers are gearing themselves up for a busy time and to that end they
are putting on special offers to attract early business. So, if you are quick you
could be organised and grab a bargain.
The kitchen is the central point
of many homes as cooking has
become a predominant feature
of many television channels.
Our main feature on kitchens
will supply you with ideas and
businesses that can give you the
best kitchen makeover.
We are, apparently, a nation of
collectors as is evidenced by the
number of car boot sales. This
month Maxwell digs into the
history of enamel signs which
most of us have come across
during our lives at garages and
railway stations to name just two.
Although it is a city with
around 32,219 population,
technically Lichfield is classed as
a civil parish, one of only eight
in England with city status.
Notable as the birthplace of
Samuel Johnson, compiler of the
first authoritative Dictionary
of the English Language. Brian
Spencer pays a visit to this
historic city.
Local playwright and poet Kev
Fegan has written more than 50
plays including one about Barack
Obama’s brother, and he was also
responsible for getting Deirdre
Barlow out of jail in Coronation
Street. He is, even by his own
prolific standards, busy this
month with no fewer than four
plays all coming to the stage.
We hope that you enjoy this edition.
