A unique art exhibition
returns to Ticknall this August Bank Holiday Weekend.
Showcasing nearly 200 of the Midlands finest
artists; talented amateurs exhibit alongside
professionals and, with more than 1000 pieces
of original art in one show, this is the biggest
painting exhibition outside London.
This year’s featured artists are Jo Allsopp, John
Rattigan and Steve Smith.
Jo Allsopp will be delivering an entertaining
and informative talk and demonstration.
She is a talented, self taught artist who has a
distinct loose way of painting; her animals are
warm, engaging and charming. She also runs
classes from her Stable Studio Gallery at Moira
Furness.
John Rattigan is an award winning artist. His
distinctive work has a clear element of humour
and his images are both playful and serious.
Visitors can watch John while he works on a
piece at the exhibition.
Steve Smith is a self taught artist with an
exceptional gift. He works in gouache, pastels
and oils, a lover of detail, colour and the
challenge of the human form. Steve will be in
attendance at the show during the weekend.
A range of free creative activities for children are
available during the weekend. The show is run
by volunteers who raise funds to support Dame
Catherine Harpur School, a village school and
charity.
