A NOTE TO READERS:
Miss Daisy's voice is the kind of voice that the ear follows up and down, as if each speech is an arrangement of notes that will never be played again. And her face, well, it’s sad and lovely with bright things in it, bright eyes and a bright passionate mouth, yet there’s an excitement in her voice that men must find difficult to forget: a singing compulsion, a whispered “Listen,” a promise that she has done gay, exciting things. Yes, it has certainly been a wonderful time to speak with her today!
