Fundraising For A Cure
By Caitlyn Dummer
The teams traveled to Gregory to play volleyball and help fundraise for a cure on October 15. This year, Burke and Gregory volleyball teams sold t-shirts to raise money. Gregory raffled off baked goods and had a silent auction. This year Consumers Federal Credit Union donated six large coolers, in which each class was given one (grades K-6). The classes were given the task of painting and collecting goodies to go into each of the coolers.
This was by far the best silent auction, the girls raised $4,623.81 to give to the Gregory County Ministerial Association. This money will be used to fund trips for anyone getting cancer treatments/cancer appointments. All the money stayed local this year.
The teams started the night out with a win. JV won in two matches. The Varsity team followed and they came out with a win in three matches. The scores were 25-23, 25-20, and 25-14.
Santanya Matucha had 27 digs and Madison Wischman contributed with 16 digs. Tressa Bull had 14 kills and Allison Sebern also had 10 kills. Madison Wischman had 19 assists out of 38 kills.
"I felt like we played with more intensity and it was a very fun and exciting game," stated Madison Wischman.
