Handwashing is Key to Staying Healthy

Regular handwashing by all family members can go a long way to keep germs at bay during the upcoming flu season. Now is the perfect time to remind children that proper handwashing begins with wetting their hands with warm water. A squirt of soap should be rubbed until it lathers (15-20 seconds) and then rinsed off. A disposable paper towel is best for drying hands. If a cloth towel is used, change it often.

Healthy Community Potluck Planned

Our first Healthy Community Potluck was a fun gathering of health conscious people. We asked participants to bring a whole food plant based dish to share and include the recipe. A wide variety of brightly colored grain and vegetable dishes were delicious and satisfying. The group gave a “thumbs up” to meeting again in November, and focusing on healthy options for holiday foods. Mark your calendar for Sunday, November 17th from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. and join us at the Trinity Lutheran Church fellowship hall in Great Bend. The large kitchen works great for a short cooking demonstration before we enjoy the potluck meal. Call Donna for more information.
