The 4-H Water Ambassador program is a leadership opportunity for teens 13 and older, focusing on the importance of water quality, water conservation, and water careers. It is a project for teens in Barton and Ellis counties. Applications and two letters of reference are due October 1st to the Extension office, with interviews to be held in November. If selected, the first step will be to attend two training sessions.
This team of trained teens will be expected to return to their communities and lead other young people in water education activities. The program is available to all teens 13 and older, both 4-H and non-4-H members.
Applications can be found on the Cottonwood Extension District website. https://cottonwood.k-state.edu/ellis-county4h/ellis_4hforms.html
On August 1st, the Barton County 4-H Holding Board held their inaugural fundraising Back to School Bash event.
Activities included a dunk tank, bounce house, face painting, incredible water journey, and farm animal experience, which were all manned by 4-H members and their families. They also hosted a touch-a-truck experience as well as a car, tractor, and motorcycle show. School supplies were collected and shared with the United Way of Central Kansas to support their Stuff the Bus campaign.
Thank you to everyone who came out to support the community and the 4-H Holding Board in their fundraising efforts to update the 4-H Educational Buildings. These facilities provide meeting and celebration spaces for the communities of Barton County.
