Building Stronger Communities Through Workforce and Wellness Initiatives in Ellis County

The Cottonwood Extension District continues to strengthen community connections through our Community Vitality efforts. Two key partnerships helping lead the way in Ellis County are with the Hays Chamber of Commerce Workforce Committee and the Hays Chamber of Commerce Wellness Committee. These committees bring together community leaders, business representatives, and Extension staff who work collaboratively to identify local needs and develop initiatives that make a lasting impact.

The Workforce Committee focuses on strengthening the local economy by connecting education, business, and workforce development resources. Their efforts include promoting career readiness, supporting youth career exploration programs, and helping local employers develop strategies to attract and retain skilled workers. The committee’s work ensures that Ellis County continues to foster opportunity, innovation, and economic growth.

The Wellness Committee is dedicated to enhancing the health and well-being of residents across Ellis County. This group collaborates with local organizations and community partners to promote physical activity, nutrition, mental health awareness, and overall wellness.

These committees are excellent examples of how K-State Extension and the Hays Chamber of Commerce can work together to create meaningful, community-driven change. By combining local leadership with K-State’s research-based expertise, these partnerships embody the spirit of Community Vitality; neighbors and partners working side by side to make Ellis County a stronger, healthier, and more connected place to live, work, and play.

The Cottonwood District is proud to be part of these efforts and deeply appreciates the dedication and leadership of everyone involved. Their commitment continues to make a positive difference in the lives of Ellis County residents every day.
