3 – 2 – 1 Blast Off

Rocketry Classes are held each summer through the Hays and Ellis Rec Commissions.  Youth will explore Mars and space flight with some fun and interactive learning activities. You’ll also build a model rocket that can be entered into the Ellis Co. Fair and Ellis Jr. Free Fair.

Ellis Classes are held May 19 & 20, 1 – 5 p.m. at the Ellis Public Library (Plan to attend both days)

Kansas 4-H is celebrating the 75th year of 4-H Camp at Rock Springs Ranch this year! Did you know that more than 75 years ago, in 1945, the land that is now part of Rock Springs Ranch was purchased to become the new home for Kansas 4-H camp, all because of 4-H youth like us? Youth raised the funds to pay off the mortgage before the first camping season even began!

Kansas 4-H Youth Leadership Council members were inspired by what these Kansas 4-H members did 75 years ago and have an idea for making sure camp is extra special for the next 75 years. We are introducing a new Leadership Adventure Course for Rock Springs Ranch! The Leadership Adventure Course is a team obstacle course with high ropes, low elements and a dueling zip line.

As of 4.26.2021, over $21,000 had been raised by 4-H clubs, 4-H councils, and alumni!

Hays class is held May 27, 1 – 5 p.m. at HRC (Launch at the end of class, weather permitting)

Register for both classes through the respective Rec Commission office.  Registration closes May 5 or once spaces are filled.
