Summer Engagement Grant interns provided several learning opportunities throughout the Barton County Fair! They held four activities highlighting different areas of interest. These were the Enviroscape with water conservation and pollution, Nutritious Trail Mix and the Blender Bike which both highlighted healthy eating and living, and Flower Power where we germinated several types of flowers. Throughout the week, they had many interactions with both the parents and the youth of the community. A grand total of 88 interactions, with 71 of those being with the youth.
The Barton County Fair kicked off on Saturday, June 22, with pre-fair events of Fashion Revue, Sewing & Textiles, and Shopping In Style consultative judging as well as the 4-H Dog Show! The full fair ran June 26-30 and had good numbers of 4-H and Open Class entries. We hope that the community had an opportunity to watch the livestock shows, check out the inside exhibits, as well as enjoying the fun of concerts and the carnival. We closed the week on Sunday, June 30, with Round Robin, the 4-H BBQ, and the 4-H Sale of Champions for both livestock and foods
