8 4-Her's from the Cottonwood Extension District attended the 100th year of Discovery Days at the start of June! This event is a 3-day mini college experience for youth who are 13 to 18 years old. Youth were able to stay in K-State dorms, eat in the dining hall and attend sessions in campus classrooms. The youth got to watch as the 2022 State Project Award Winners were recognized and heard a motivational speech from Dan Meers, the KC Chiefs mascot!
Our Cottonwood District 4-H20 Ambassadors had the opportunity to present a few of their activities to youth attending the dance at Discovery Days. Lizzy showed 33 fellow delegates the “Freddy the Fish” water activity, while Jonas lead a water cycle bracelet activity. The 4-H20 Ambassador program began in the fall of 2020 with youth from both Barton and Ellis counties actively participating in learning and sharing about water quality, water conservation and water careers. Youth 13 and older who are interested in this leadership opportunity are welcome to call our offices for more information.
