ServSafe Food Handler Class

August 15 - Great Bend

Join Monique and Karissa to become ServSafe certified. This 3-hour course allows participants to learn about foodborne illness along with common behaviors that cause foodborne illness. We will also discuss various hazards, cross-contamination, allergens, sanitation, and more.

This certification is often required for those who work in the food industry, and the course is very helpful for those who regularly volunteer in service settings such as concession stands, catering, etc.

A $15 registration fee is required by August 11th and the ServSafe Food Handler Guidebook and exam are included. Come join us on August 15th at the Great Bend Extension Office from 1 pm-4 pm to get certified!

Food Safety Quick Facts:

•             An estimated 600 million – almost 1 in 10 people in the world – fall ill after eating contaminated food.

•             The only way to tell if food is safely cooked is to use a food thermometer. You can’t tell if food is safely cooked by checking its color and texture.

•             More than 200 diseases are spread through food.

•             Higher risk foods include red meats, poultry, eggs, cheese, dairy products, raw sprouts, and raw fish or shellfish although all foods can become contaminated.
