Ellis Co. 4-H Council invites all area teen leaders to come and talk. We’re excited to have Greg Peterson of the Peterson Farm Brothers join us in sharing some of the stories and background around their viral video sensations. Learn how they use music to tell the story of Agriculture to a wider audience. This event is FREE. Join the “Ellis County 4-H – It’s Legit!” Facebook page to keep up on registration and event information.
August 28 – Let’s Talk!
Under the direction of summer intern, Tamara Robertson, eight experienced 4-H members led a day camp in July covering the four seasons! Campers used a sun oven to make s'mores over the course of the morning; learned about the interaction between vinegar and baking soda while making melting snowmen, planted wildflowers and learned about pollinators and bee keeping! A great time was had by all with lots of hands-on learning!
The Barton County Fair was a success with the theme of "A New Beginning" to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the Santa Fe Trail. While it is fun to win ribbons and prizes, there was an incredible amount of project learning on display! 4-H Ambassadors developed "bitmogies" of themselves and you could find them in posts throughout the fair. Fair Buddies were set up during the Youth Rally and each big kid committed to checking in twice each day with their little. Watching 4-H members work together to clean the barn, set up a display, or volunteer for the Barton County Fair Association's Family Fun Nights are great parts of the fair.
6:30 p.m. – Frontier Park East – Take a walk along Big Creek and learn more about our water resources through hands-on, interactive stations. Fun for the whole family and FREE!
