Super Saturday NW 4-H Judging Event

Super Saturday, held at Fort Hays State University on March 21st, was a tremendous success, with more than 120 youth participating in a variety of judging contests. Participants had the opportunity to build their decision-making and identification skills across numerous project areas, including crops, life skills, livestock skill-a-thon, horticulture, entomology, photography, and livestock judging, with geology and wildlife skills offered as new contest areas this year.

Youth demonstrated strong critical thinking as they evaluated classes, identified items, and applied their knowledge in real-world scenarios. Events like these not only strengthen project area knowledge, but also help develop confidence, communication, and problem-solving skills that will benefit participants well beyond 4-H.

This event would not have been possible without the support of our outstanding volunteers and dedicated extension agents. Their time, effort, and commitment to creating meaningful learning experiences are truly appreciated and make opportunities like Super Saturday possible for our youth.

We are already looking forward to next year’s event, which will be held on March 20, 2027, at Colby Community College.
