SUSTAINABILITY
TRANSFORMING OUR CONTRIBUTION INTO FUTURE BENEFIT.
Sustainability is one of the most important pillars, as it
ensures that the projects we have worked on together with
communities have a long-lasting and effective legacy.
Last year, we focused on several sustainability projects
including:
- Our Nutrition Mission which empowered households with
nutritional knowledge.
Our sustainability pillar focuses on a diverse range of
economic development activities that endeavour to increase
people’s income generation and in doing so, improve families’
livelihoods. It ensures that our schools are operational in
future as parents can afford to send their children, families
will be able to access health centres and that workers
will have higher cattle and crop yields, business skills and
livelihood.
- Supporting coffee growers by investing in facilities,
equipment and know-how, which is now driven by our
specialty coffee brand, Mannya Trading Co.
- Additional microfinance opportunities for farmers, coffee
growers and other entrepreneurs.
GOALS
- Adult literacy programs to increase people’s
educational levels.
1. Develop and maintain agricultural plans for food security
and income-generation that fits within the Ugandan culture.
Within each of these projects, we work closely with the
local community to ensure that we are empowering them to
increase their earnings prospects, in line with their traditional
methods.
2. Develop income-generating projects to support the
long-term independent financial sustainability of the villages.
3. Engage and educate the local community about agricultural
and community development projects to ensure household
food security and income-generation.

Cotton On Foundation micro credit centres are those institutions that we
provide financial support to, giving people within the community the opportunity
to borrow at low interest rates. Access to financial support via our micro-finance
program is an effective way of enabling the entrepreneurial spirit of farmers in
these communities to grow their businesses.
