Asmanycommentatorshavepointedout, TheSecondSundayof EasterwasalreadyasolemnityastheOctaveDayofEaster; nevertheless, the�tle " DivineMercySunday " doeshighlightandamplifythemeaningoftheday. Inthisway, it recoversanancientliturgicaltradi�on, reflectedinateachinga�ributedtoSt. Augus- �neabouttheEasterOctave, whichhecaled " thedaysofmercyandpardon," andthe OctaveDayitself " thecompendium ofthedaysofmercy."

Aso�enasyouheartheclockstrikethethirdhour, immerseyourselfcompletelyin Mymercy, adoringandglorifyingit; invokeitsomnipotenceforthewholeworld, and par�cularlyforpoorsinners; foratthatmomentmercywasopenedwideforeverysoul.
