M
otorcycles have been a love of
mine since I was a teenager.
At 14, my first bike was a rusty old
Indian 80 a friend gave me because it
didn’t run. I puttered with it for days
and somehow got it going. I was too
young to drive it on the road, so I rode
it off-road in the hills near our home
in upstate New York. That Indian
was super hard to start and way too
big for me, but none of that mattered
--- I had a motorcycle! Working the
throttle and hearing the sound of that
engine had me hooked.
Since then, I have owned at least a
dozen other motorcycles: Ducati’s,
Kawasakis, Triumphs, and several
Harleys. Today, I have an Ultra-
Classic and my wife, Trish, has a
V-Rod she absolutely loves.
In 2011, during the Leather & Lace
Inaugural Bikers’ Ball to kick start
the seventh annual Cotee River
Bike FestSM, I was honored to be
selected as “King of the Road” for
being a motorcycle enthusiast who
is involved in the community.
Obviously, motorcycles are a passion
of mine. One of my other passions
is being involved in my community.
It is my privilege to work with
community service organizations
in Pasco County. There is sense
of accomplishment when putting
“service above self ”.
