Trend #4: Edge Play
Art inspired creases and liner have popped at shows
like Anna Sui; a distressed take on eye makeup. As a
reaction to the Instagramable eye and reality TV eye
looks of the last few seasons, this artistic approach
let’s any makeup wearer show their creativity. Bold
pencil shades from brands like NYX liquid liners or
Crown Brush Eye Marker Liner are easy and afford-
able ways to play with unexpected shapes and de-
signs. For the more adventurous wearer, try Kryolan
Cake and Liquid Liners, with their vivid shade range
to draw inspiration and any shape you can imagine.
Trend #5: Neon Signs
Neon cat eyes, creases and lips glowed bright with
a nod to new wave shades at shows like Versace and
Anna Sui. Try adding a smudge of Neon Blue to your
lash line with Kryolan UV Color, paint on a neon
lash with Danessa Myricks new neon shades of Color
Fix or paint a tradition lip look in an ultra-‐modern
neon pink or orange with Suva Beauty or Mehron’s
high pigment neon pressed colors. If you want to add
texture into the mix, Lemonheads Glitters are avail-
able at the Alcone Company booth, give a pop of
color without a hard edge.
Trend #6: Hot Topic
Goth and grunge are back, giving the middle finger to
today’s conservative government in a beauty back-
lash. The runway and red carpet both saw stars like
Billie Eilish and brands like Pinnacle, Smashbox and
Kevyn Aucoin as they bring back deep oxbloods,
vampy burgundies, chocolate browns and true
blacks to the lip. From sheer glosses to high pigment
lipsticks, these deep and daring shades bring back
the counterculture in an elevated way that is more
fashion forward than mall Goth.
Trend #7: CBD as a beauty ingredient
As states decide and determine for themselves how
marijuana will benefit their businesses ingredients,
hemp and CBD oil are popping up everywhere. From
mascara formulation at indie brands like Milk to hand
creams and facial toners. What was once a demon-
ized, weed has proven to have many benefits in beau-
ty. Check out Twin Medix CBD Serum and Perricone
MD cleansing line for some beautiful examples of
CBD for skin care and wellness.
