The Makeup Show: Spring Beauty
Trends 2020 By James Vincent
With the Makeup Show, NYC, and many other shows canceled, we’ve been looking
to all our favorite artists for updates on what the spring beauty trends will be. Luck-
ily for us, one of our favorite artists and Director of Education and Artistry for The
Makeup Show, James Vincent, had plenty of ideas to share! Vincent’s work can be
seen from the runways to magazine pages. We are also huge fans of his small business,
Rebels and Outlaws, producing beautifully, spiritually charged candles, intention set-
ting sprays, and more for artists of all types.
Trend #1: Lashing Out
Exaggerated lashes are always an easy way to create
an impact. Whether you are layering up faux lashes,
building up the natural lash to beautiful new limits
or painting on an unexpected color; the lash can be
a statement that gets attention. This season, we saw
classic houses like Valentino and Gucci give lashes
unexpected attention and we are in love. To create a
lush layered look, Stilazzi Cosmo Collection is per-
fect for the pro or makeup wearer’s on-‐the-‐go. It’s
easy to build and leaves your lashes looking like you
stepped right off the runway. Looking for something
brighter? Try adding a bold pop of color like Danessa
Myricks Color Fix or MAKE UP FOR EVER Artist
paints in any array of colors. Long lasting and wa-
terproof Color Fix allows unlimited possibilities and
will stop traffic.
Trend #2: Patent Pending
Louis Vuitton, Gucci, and Chanel’s vinyl, high shine
cheeks, lids and lips put extreme gloss back in the
beauty map. An easy addition to any makeup look,
this gloss trend takes it to new levels but let’s you
keep it simple at the same time. Kevyn Aucoin, NYX
Cosmetics and Danessa Myricks offer some pro
favorite products for amping up the shine in any price
point. Kevyn Aucoin The Exotique Eye Gloss gives
a gorgeous, opalescent sheen alone or over your
favorite shadow. Danessa Myricks’ Dew Wet Balm
in Holy Water gives gleam to any complexion. Try
MAKE UP FOR EVER Artist Acrylip Lip Paint for a
stay put and stay out patent pout.

Trend #3: Glitter and Smoke
This season’s glittery, smokey eye was a favorite for
award season red carpets and showed up at shows
like Brandon Maxwell. Moira Cosmetics makes it
simple to get a softer shimmer with their individu-
al shadows. If you want to go full glitter, add Eye
Kandy Glitter Shadows or the Ruby May Enchanted
Palette for colors that bring the drama but are easy to
apply. Simply swipe them over your lid and lash line
after applying your own smoky look and you’ll leave
your house looking paparazzi ready.
