INGREDIENT SPOTLIGHT
TURMERIC AND SANDALWOOD
At CosmoBiz we spend a lot of time keeping up
with the latest trends for hair and beauty, but
also for ingredients. As scientists find new and
improved ingredients for skincare, the patterns
can change rapidly to keep up. While most of the
focus right now is on CBD oil, and rightfully so, I
also wanted to share a little love for Turmeric and
Sandalwood.
I’ve used both ingredients in cooking and as a
perfume for ages but was recently introduced to
their powers for skin care after trying out a Vicco
cream at the recommendation of a cosmetologist.
As someone with combination, sun-damaged skin,
I began to see results quickly, and now I’ll never
go back. While the Vicco cream may be my entry
point to the wonders of these two ingredients, I
do intend to try using them in new ways, including
adding turmeric to my Second Nature Bentonite
Clay masks!
Sandalwood oil has been used for generations
to help improve acne, eczema, psoriasis, and
more. It’s also been studied for its ability to act
as a natural astringent, anti-inflammatory, and
anti-viral properties. Meanwhile, turmeric contains
antioxidants and anti-inflammatory components,
which for many, can provide improved glow and
clarity for the skin. While it can be a powerful
ingredient that stains if used in too large a quantity,
in small doses, it’s easy to use, and you will still
see the benefits.
