Microlinks are becoming the hottest way to add ex-
tensions to your natural hair. While they have ap-
pealed more to Caucasian hair in the past because
of the texture not matching natural hair, this has
become a past-time thought as stylist are creating
their own microlink extensions in a kinkier textures.
This business has been boomin’, so much so
we’ve caught up with the queen of microlinks in
the DMV area, Jemstyles. She owns and operates
her salons, Jemistry Hair Studio, with locations

in both Maryland and Virginia. Jem purchases and
installs microlinks for African American hair, but
if it’s last-minute appointment she can create her
own! Not only does she style, but she teaches oth-
er stylists in the area about this extension method
and why it’s better for a client with natural hair.
