3. Glowing Gold
Highlight
Chocolate skin equals gold highlight, but you didn’t
hear it from us. Sike! It’s no secret that deep chocolate
skin tones shine bright like the sun in a gold highlight.
Justine Skye’s makeup routine is no different. There are
two different ways you can add a pop of highlight to your
regime: use an illuminator in your foundation and/or use
an illuminator or highlight by itself. By adding highlight-
ing illuminators in your foundation, it gives your skin a
subtle, but glowing look. This is perfect for matte face,
but still glowing like you just won a million dollars. You
can also use an illuminator or highlight by itself on the tip
of your nose, under your eyebrows, on the cupid’s bow
and a little above your blush on the cheeks.
NYX has a perfect illuminator called Born to Glow
in the shades Sun Goddess and Pure Gold. These are the
perfect highlighters to mix into your foundation and also
use by itself when you finish applying most of your make-
up. Here’s a little tip: for ultimate glow, spray a finishing
spray on your face first, then apply the highlighter in the
previous listed places. This adds to the glow and also
allows it to last longer. 4. Brown Exaggerated
Lippies

she loves a great overdrawn lip. African American
lips are naturally full, so to plump them up, an easy
trick of overdrawing with your lip liner is key. Brown
is the most natural shade to her lips and is also on
trend. She sports a matte brown lip that is a little
darker and more noticeable than her skin to create a
perfect nude look.
Of course, we’re going to give you a NYX lippie
to create this look. Try using the popular NYX Lip
Lingerie in the shade Warm Brown Nude or Choc-
olate Brown. Both colors reflect that deep chocolate
shade Justine is wearing with a matte finish, which
doesn’t dry out your lips. When applying, line your
lips with a similar shade of lip liner and slightly over
outline your lips. Fill in with the lip stick and watch it
become the perfect matte!
Thanks to the makeup gods, we have Justine to copy
a perfect natural eyebrow. I mean look at them?! they’re
not so dark that they look like caterpillars, and not too
highlighted underneath. She perfectly blends to elongate
the ends and fill in the desired places. Creating a natural,
clean eyebrow is key to every Justine Skye look. You
literally want to look like you woke up like this!
The key to creating the perfect eye is using a small,
thin brow pencil. You don’t want to use a pencil that is
too big because it can overdraw and darken the look of
the brow. A small pencil allows you to lightly fill in spots
while creating a clean look. Anastasia’s Brow Pencil
would be ideal, but they’re crazy expensive. Luckily,
NYX created the perfect dupe with their Micro Brow
Pencil. This comes with the spoolie at the end to brush
out the hairs to perfection. Finish with a brow gel to keep
in place and you’ve achieved the look!
