PR Committee Members Industry involvement: Chairperson More awareness needs to be created of Coschem and the role it can play outside of the circles of the Cosmetic and Personal Care industry. This needs to be towards: • Students • Cosmetic companies beyond our borders • Industries linking into the Personal care and cosmetic industry Theme for 2019 “Create Awareness” Patricia visited NWU School of Pharmacy for their career day on 4 October. She reported that there was a resounding amount of interest in the personal care industry. There was also a large number of students looking for internships. The students were encouraged to visit the website for more contact details, information and possibly enrolling as student members if they will be able to attend some of the functions. The contact person to arrange future involvement is Henrico Heystek. Patricia Kruger Ronal Makola Lumbi Moyo Kirsten Scott Abby Vorster PR Objectives The following PR Committee objectives were set out in the beginning of 2019: • Create awareness on social media platforms • Create awareness by reaching out to tertiary institutions • Create awareness by providing more benefits to existing members Social Media Website revamp The need was identified to update our website to include the following: • Membership login to supply additional information and training sessions to members only in order to offer additional benefits to encourage membership • Payment porthole to possibly alleviate the role of the Coschem office in this regard. This will allow for online booking and registration • Calendar page to share upcoming events with visitors to the website • Job request, job shadowing, internships etc not to be advertised on website or Facebook. All these will be added to the Ops Manual. Initial budget of R8000.00 was agreed for the revamp of the website, but after careful consideration and quotes it was agreed to increase the spend to R40 000.00 The current service provider made some changes within 2019, but it was agreed that there is still a need for a much upgraded product to represent our Society. The current service provider made some minor upgrades to the current product, but the major revamp will be the focus for the committee for 2020. The presentation was also done to a group of final year Pharmacy students and lecturers from the Eswatini Medical Christian University in Mbabane, Eswatini (formerly Swaziland). It was proposed that this is merely done via skype or webex. Fola Amu. Contact was made with the University of Witwatersrand, but unfortunately due to disruptions at their campus no presentations was made there. A collective group of cosmetic manufacturers from Namibia also contacted the Coschem stand at the P&C Review seminar, and they have been now been made aware of the Society and how they can benefit from membership. Benefits to members: Membership Plus The proposed Membership Plus option for members to register at a Premium fee and be able to attend most of the Society’s premier events was approved by Council. A total of 12 members opted for this registration package. It was agreed to continue with this for 2020, cost would be R 8150.00 including membership, 2x seminars, Conference, Gala dinner, 1x Lunch (Ladies day or Year-end function). In addition to the website, the Committee continue to use tools such as; • Coschem Facebook pages • Linkedin • Frequent email communication and flyers on the Society and its various activities • SA Pharmaceutical & Cosmetic Review (as our Print partner) • IFSCC member login on the IFSCC website Page 12 Page 13
